  • Spectral methods, focussing on collocation schemes and triangular spectral element methods
  • Computational tools, mostly for the above
  • Scientific computation, with experience using finite-difference, finite-element, spectral-element, wavelet and radial-basis-function methods for spatial discretization

  • Professional interests
  • Computer programming, emphasis on competitions (training, organizing, etc.)
  • Education and training, mostly in mathematics and in computer science

  • Personal interests
  • Recreational gaming and puzzles, such as card games (bridge, trading card games, etc.), video games, sudoku or logic puzzles
  • Reading, writing and editing, focussing on speculative fiction (science fiction, fantasy, etc.), graphic novels and animated shows
  • Music, usually rock or alternative genre, but classical is okay when you can get it
  • Open computer literacy through the web (sites such as Wikipedia) and through free- and shareware, featuring LaTeX and Ubuntu Linux
  • Personal digital information consumption, these days in the form of net-enabled handheld devices and eInk-based document readers
  • The internet, with its multiple avenues of social interaction and as an enabler for any and all of the above
